Statement 

  

Dr. Constantine is presently the Chief of Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Benedictine and The Kingston Hospitals, in Kingston, New York.


He is part of Hudson Valley Surgical Specialists, with the office in Kingston, New York. Dr. Darren Rohan, with whom Dr. Constantine partners with, is the Chief of Thoracic Surgery for the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley. His interests include thoracic, including minimally invasive thoracic surgery, general and laparoscopic surgery.

 

Before this, Dr. Constantine filled an equivalent position for five years at Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ.
The procedures he performed encompass the whole spectrum of minimally invasive surgery, including, but not limited to, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), splenectomy, adrenalectomy, colectomies, inguinal herniorrhaphy, hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux procedures, radio-frequency ablation, laparoscopic gastric banding, Enterra therapy (gastric stimulator for gastroparesis), parathyroidectomies, as well as "open" procedures and oncologic surgery. Both Drs. Rohan and Constantine are trained in
the Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

History
   

Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Dr. Constantine received his MD degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy School of Medicine.

 

His Surgical Residency was completed in June 2005 at Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education (Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ).

 

In June 2006 Dr. Constantine graduated a comprehensive minimally invasive fellowship, training under Dr. Abdelkader Hawasli.

During the fellowship, he was granted staff privileges at St. John Hospital Medical Center and Bon Secours Hospital, both in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

709 cases, including basic laparoscopy, advanced laparoscopy, open surgery and endoscopy were logged during the fellowship.
Dr. Constantine is certified in the laparoscopic Lap-Band placement by Inamed since June 2006.

 

Dr. Constantine is the Chief of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Division of the Department of Surgery at the Benedictine Hospital and The Kingston Hospital in Kingston, New York, since April 2011.

 

Dr. Constantine was Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery  at Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ, between July 2006 and March 2011.


He is Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

His activities also include teaching surgical residents, internal medicine and emergency medicine interns,  medical and ostheopathic students, as well as research projects with residents and students.

 

He currently has an appointment as Associate Professor of Surgery from St. George's University Caribbean Medical School in Grenada, West Indies.
